You can gain a lot of virtue simply by trying. No techniques. No strategies. Just repeatedly trying.

If you were new to basketball and I gave you no instructions, I just told you to shoot 10,000 freethrows - you would get ridiculously good. Of course, if I taught you proper form you would get better quicker, be more consistent and have a higher ceiling, but you don’t need it.

The formula is simple. You decide what you want, you try repeatedly, and your brain does the rest.

You decide what you want the ball in the net. You throw the ball with your terrible form and it misses. You have no idea what adjustments to make. You just throw the ball again and again and again. If, by some stroke of luck, the ball goes in the net, your brain wires itself to say “that’s the right track.”

When you attempt to stop drawing attention to good that you do for your spouse, it’s as simple as - just try. It will come.

This won’t work all the time. But it works stupidly well in a lot of situations.

As always: Pray. Make every effort.
